What's new along the trail?

During the summer of 2019, the final section of Lake Miola Trail was installed on the east side of the lake stretching from Lakeview Trailhead south and connecting with existing limestone trail. Previously, the gravel roadway had doubled as trail but was difficult to maneuver by runners and bicyclists.

The South Woods Loop will soon be re-routed slightly to eliminate an extremely steep slop on the west side of the spillway that has been a rainwater runoff nightmare. The City of Paola Public Works Department is experimenting with some new methods of grading to fix other problem areas along the trails. Your patience is appreciated.

Kiosk signage for each LMT trailhead is being designed and will include a detailed map, trail descriptions, donors list, history, and helpful information for users. Installation will occur during September.

Members of the task force power washed (twice!) and re-stained the wooden bridge in Wallace Park following multiple flooding events.

The task force will host the weekly Chamber Coffee on Friday, Sept. 27, as a celebration of the completion of phase 2—Lake Miola Trail.
