National Make a Difference Day

Make a Difference Day emphasizes community service and volunteerism.

This observance was founded in 1992 when USA Weekend—the second largest national newspaper at that time—suggested to its readers that since that year was a leap year people should take the extra day and use it to do something good for their communities or for those in need. It has been celebrated on the fourth Saturday of October ever since.

Make a Difference Day is a great way for individuals to give something back to the communities they live and/or work in. May we suggest you grab some friends and a few trash bags, wear gloves for safety, and walk a section of the trail system picking up trash along the way.
